Royal Guard WIP Armor

Description

As part of my documentation of the progress of Royal Guard Pony, I give you Royal Guard Pony Armor: Incomplete Edition! I spent some time late last night working on him after doing commissions all day. All of the swirly lines on his armor are done with a zig zag stitch on the machine, but coordinated by hand. The inset shows the little swirlies on his helmet. I'm still working on his crest, saddle blanket, and saddle strap (if you look closely at all that reflective gold, you can see his saddle set on his back armor). All of the armor will be removable.

You can see Royal Guard Pony: Paper Armor Edition here: [link] that was before the poor guy got his tail. And here he is sans armor [link] so you can see his fantastic cutie mark, which a bunch of folks helped me decide on.

P.S. I'm not sure I will even keep this set of armor. The fabric stretches and bubbles a lot, and doesn't always lay nicely on him. It's really tough to stitch. As I've discovered though, finding good gold fabric is nearly impossible. So there may be Royal Guard Pony: Complete Armor Edition 2 if I ever find something better, or try and make a set out of canary yellow minky. If anyone finds an awesome gold fabric that doesn't shred, deform, etc. and is a bright yellow gold (not coppery, not necessarily reflective) please let me know and I would be eternally grateful!

What was the fabric you used for the gold? Was it a knit lame, or a tissue lame? I hate that stuff, having used it for other things. It puckers and shifts like nothing else. You can use a light weight iron-on interfacing, to stabilize it, making sure to preshrink the interfacing first, and to iron on with a low heat setting, and use a pressing cloth. As an alternative, there's a nice gold PVC at this place [link] that might work, as well.
